MINA
#143
Mina is a blockchain with a concise chain of blocks, no matter how much usage grows, the blockchain will always weigh about 20 kilobytes. One of the biggest advantages of the coin is the representation in the form of resistance to censorship due to a fixed size.

UPDATE ON BRIDGES IN THE ECOSYSTEM 🌉
Heard you wanted an update on the status of bridges in the Mina Protocol ecosystem, check it out 👇
Aligned State Bridge
Aligned verifies different kinds of proofs on Ethereum, while improving verification speed and costs. Soon, this will include verifying Mina’s Kimchi proofs on Ethereum, enabling a powerful Mina → Ethereum state bridge (using Lambda Class bridge work).
The Kimchi proof verifier for Aligned is feature-complete, and Mina Foundation has kicked off a security audit with Hacken.
Ethereum ←→ Mina Token Bridge
Different from the state bridge enabled by Aligned, Mina Bridge will be a centralized token bridge for bringing ETH liquidity to Mina. The first version will support bridging wrapped ETH, with ERC20 tokens to be added after launch.
A security audit by Zellic began in December. Mina Bridge is expected to launch on mainnet shortly after the audit concludes and any relevant fixes have been implemented.
You can try out the Mina Bridge devnet deployment at devnet.minabridge.io today!

Update on Aligned Genesis Drop
Aligned announced their Genesis Drop earlier this week, inviting eligible members of the Mina community to participate. The response has exceeded expectations, with an overwhelming number of Mina wallet registrations (Mina’s community is the biggest registered community so far!).
This is the first event for the ecosystem where message signing has been a requirement. For many users, the registration process involves connecting their Auro wallet. For Ledger users who wish to participate in the Aligned Genesis Drop, the Aligned team has rolled out a manual signing solution which requires importing your seed phrase to Clor.io. As always, be careful and do your own research when working with seed phrases and private keys! It is recommended that users who opt to use this method move their funds from all accounts with the same seed phrase to a fresh Ledger with a new seed phrase before completing Aligned’s registration.
Meanwhile, Mina Foundation is exploring alternate workarounds and actively communicating with the Ledger team to develop a robust, long-term fix. While delivering a comprehensive signing capability will require additional time to ensure it is done properly, it will set the ecosystem up for success in the long term.
Thanks to the Aligned team for their swift action, and the community for your ongoing support. These challenges help drive us to become a stronger, more resilient ecosystem. Onwards and upwards!

Last call for feedback on Economics Design’s Tokenomics proposal 🚨
Last week, Economics Design shared their recommendations for the tokenomics of Mina Protocol.
So far, there have been lively discussions on MinaResearch about these questions:
+ Should a token-locking mechanism be introduced?
+ Should excess staking rewards fund a protocol treasury?
+ Is the proposed 10% threshold reasonable for triggering redistribution?
+ Anything else you want Economics Design to consider?
Share your thoughts! Comments will close at the end of day on Monday.

Mina Ecosystem adds Copper as an Institutional Custodian for Professional Investors
Copper.co, a leader in digital asset custody, collateral management, and prime services, has enabled custody and staking support for MINA.
With a focus on custody and collateral management, Copper has built the standard for institutional digital asset infrastructure. Central to Copper’s multi-award-winning technology is ClearLoop, which enables clients to manage collateral and settle trades in near real-time across multiple exchanges, while mitigating counterparty risk and increasing capital efficiency.
This integration expands options for institutional clientele to participate in the Mina community. Institutional users of Copper’s infrastructure benefit from a secure solution for managing their digital assets and a reliable staking service to accrue rewards, encouraging broader adoption of zero knowledge technology.

📣 Core Grant RFP: Tokenomics Report
Earlier this year, Mina Foundation shared a Request for Proposal (RFP) to publish an in-depth report on the tokenomics of Mina Protocol.
After reviewing proposals and speaking with multiple teams, Economics Design have now been selected to produce the report, which includes providing recommendations for potential redesign of incentives to improve Mina Protocol growth and development.
Congratulations! 🎊
The tokenomics review will explore the construction of core value flows and economic parameters, provide suggestions for treasury refill mechanisms and fund diversification, evaluate block space and reservation for L2s, and propose changes and improvements to the current economic structure.
Community feedback is key and will be incorporated into the report.
This work was requested by the Mina Community through the Core Grants RFC process to empower participants to make informed decisions about tokenomics.

Mina Foundation and Mirae Asset Financial Group have joined forces to integrate Mina’s zero knowledge tech with Mirae’s tokenized securities platform. Mirae Asset Financial Group is a global investment company which has an AUM worldwide of approximately $600 billion.
Together with Taiga Labs, the teams will develop a Proof of Concept (PoC) which enables users to securely prove asset ownership on a public blockchain using zero knowledge proofs. This use case for ZK allows owners of tokenized securities to prove their ownership, without revealing personal information, opening up a diverse range of opportunities such as offering online benefits exclusively to proven owners of tokenized securities.
